NOGOODFORME.COM's TUMBLR. For like 7+ years we, Kat Asharya and Liz Barker, kept track of what we were listening, reading, watching, wearing and wanting at our blog. Now we do it at Tumblr. But you should still visit us at NOGOODFORME.COM anyway, 'cause big things are going down there, too. Follow us on FACEBOOK, and we are both on TWITTER at @katasharya and @lizzfizz, respectively.

I was at least a little bit like Marisa Tomei in the opening scene of Untamed Heart as I got ready to go to campus this morning, minus the mother standing by with a laundry basket full of her grown children’s clothes. This film was a foundational 90s-womanhood text for me when I encountered it as a very young girl, and not just because of Suzanne Vega and Rosie Perez’s loyal model of best friendship. It also taught me a bunch of unexpected ways that heterosexual love could be exciting: long-haired men rescuing you from an attacker and then going on to be essentially little baby boys who you get to raise all by yourself! baby boys never leave their mommies! baboon hearts! antique record collections! baboon hearts! boys who let you do all the talking! rollerskating dates! baboon hearts! He dies, but that only makes the love that much sweeter. Someone needs to write about Untamed Heart and the long arm of the 1940s weepie; don’t make it be me.
