I love to be emotionally manipulated; it’s seriously my favorite. I like to be made to intensely feel things that everyone else is supposed to intensely feel too; I like the pride that comes with crying over something that you know you’re supposed to cry about. The motel scene from Half Nelson is like the Cadillac of emotionally manipulative movie scenes and now whenever I need to write something emotionally charged (for work, not for my writing-writing), I put “Shampoo Suicide” on repeat and just siphon off its sadness. Works like a charm.
